2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution review and price

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution gets a new touchscreen audio interface and satellite radio stereo as standard, along with a renewed optionally available navigation system.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is one of those rare cars targeted directly at driving lovers. It may look like a four-door economic sedan with an indiscrete side on its rear deck, but when you get behind the rim, you'll realize it's much more than that.

The Evo, as it's known among car lovers, is probably the best handling car available in its cost range. Its communicative steering and awesome grip will definitely impress you on twisty back road and racetracks as well. The turbocharged Lancer Evolution has awesome straight-line rate as well, as only highly effective V8 cars like the Chevrolet Camaro SS and Honda Ford mustang GT can keep up with it. What's more, the accessibility to both a conventional manual gearbox and an automated manual transmision creates Mitsubishi's all-wheel-drive performance sedan more accessible to commuters and anyone who would choose not to deal with a clutch pedal.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer's sharp and modern exterior styling does not extend into its cabin. Here, the Lancer is performing its age, and bland, cheap plastic doesn't help. The lack of a telescoping  steering wheel on all designs creates it harder to find a perfect fit. Evo versions have well-bolstered, low-sitting Recaro seats up front, but without size modification, shorter drivers will struggle to see over the dash. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift button make GT and Ralliart trims more attractive. The most flexible Lancer of the collection is the Sportback, which provides 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution is a high-performance compact sedan available in GSR and MR trim levels that match to the transmitting choices. The GSR comes with a standard five-speed stick speed manual transmision, while the MR gets the automated manual "Sportronic" transmitting with shift paddles.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer has a Company's Recommended Retail Price(MSRP) starting at $17,990 for an ES model with a 5-speed manual transmission. GT and SE models  are a few thousand more but offer many extrass for the money. Getting up to the Ralliart turbocharged model requires just over $29,000, while the Evolution will set you back nearly $36,000 and can reach over $40,000 with options.
